JJ's debut poetry book, The Reflection Within The Mirror (self-published), won an honor award from the Black Caucus American Library Association. JJ has received national coverage having been published in NY Weekly, American Reporter, and Kivo Daily. JJ is a member of Crime Writers of Color and the International Association of Professional Writers and Editors. Now, JJ is working on her debut crime novel: Barren.

JJ is a poet, an Army veteran, a cybersecurity nerd, and a Charlotte, North Carolina native. After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, JJ worked as a paralegal assistant at the start of her writing career.

Every since she was a pre-teen JJ loved writing. Short stories, plays, poems, nothing was off limits. She has always had a vivid imagination and an uncanny empathy for others, now as an adult, her work has found its niche.

JJ’s work is best described as crime/suspense fiction with a conscience. She loves to play the undying conspiracy theorist…transporting her readers from the safety of their homes to a place where the heroes have crippling flaws and immeasurable odds against them, the women are stronger than they look, and the societies are riddled with secrets.

When she is not working on her next novel, JJ can be found frolicking the Kaiserslautern hiking trails, building up her recipe book, binging anything horror-related on Netflix, and haunting local bookstores.

Currently, JJ lives in Germany with her husband and is expecting twins.
